Highfield tops big hitter list
Ashley Highfield, director of new media and technology at the BBC, has been voted top 'agenda setter 2004' by tech news site Silicon.com.A panel of industry pundits judged the world's technology leaders on their global influence, decision-making prowess and longevity. Mr Highfield, who has overseen the BBC's website, interactive TV and mobile services since October 2000, was voted top for his innovative work merging TV with new media and for pushing for a 'digital Britain'.
Last year's winner was Steve Jobs, founder of Apple computing. A full breakdown of Silicon.com's 2004 agenda setters can be found on its site.
