Future unveils online push

UK publisher Future has launched a major new media drive for 2005, announcing an MSN content deal, new website launches and membership of the Association of Online Publishers (AOP).

Publishing director David Maher-Roberts has joined representatives from many of the UK's biggest media organisations on the board of the AOP, including the BBC, Guardian Unlimited, Haymarket, Emap and the Economist Group.

Future publishes a range of consumer sites including Metal Hammer, Games Radar and Computer Arts, and has a number of new launches planned for 2005.

Under a new deal with MSN, Future will provide content for a relaunched computing channel, mostly from PC Format editorial and games reviews, as well as tutorials from PC Plus magazine.

"Online publishers from different media heritages are increasingly seeing the huge value in putting their experienced heads together to grow the digital media industry and with it, their own businesses," said Alexandra White, director of AOP.

"The AOP Board now represents the crème of the quality content brands, proving how important online has become in the overall media landscape."
