Journalism students offered £10K bursaries

UK-based publisher CMP Information (CMPi) is offering would-be journalists the chance to apply for one of four graduate traineeships or two £10,000 bursaries to study journalism at City University.

To be eligible for the traineeships, applicants must already have a post-graduate journalism qualification and have undertaken work experience on a number of titles. The successful candidates will commence training in September 2005.

The bursaries are available for study for a post-graduate diploma in magazine journalism at City University, commencing in Autumn 2005. The money will go towards university fees and living expenses, as well as paying for work experience at CMPi during the holidays.

The successful students will then go on to work across CMPi's weekly titles, which include Building, Travel Trade Gazette, Music Week, Farmers Guardian, Housing Today, Building Design, Cabinet Maker, Chemist & Druggist, Printing World and Property Week.

The closing date for applications to the graduate trainee scheme is 5 May 2005 and 21 March 2005 for the bursaries. An application form can be downloaded here.

Forms should be completed and returned in an envelope clearly marked 'Graduate Traineeship' or 'CMPi Bursary' together with details of work experience including cuttings, a CV and 300 words explaining why you want to work for a business-to business group.
