PA launches video course for print hacks

The Press Association is launching a two-week video journalism course designed to help print journalists become multiskilled reporters.

The video journalism diploma will be taught by David Dunkley Gyimah, University of Westminster lecturer and founder of the award-winning viewmagazine.tv website.

Journalists will study storytelling and interview techniques, how to use a video camera, as well as lighting, sound and editing skills.

"As broadband internet becomes the norm, newspaper publishers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to develop web content," said Tony Johnston, head of PA editorial training.

"Having journalists who are as comfortable writing for print as they are telling stories through video is going to be essential."

PA recently launched a multimedia newsroom in London and pioneered a scheme to train wire reporters to use video cameras.
