Reuters introduces mobile headlines

Reuters is the latest news site to introduce news alerts for mobile phones.

The service is part of the news-gathering organisation's drive to push its consumer news services on digital platforms.

The mobile service offers up to three headlines each day covering news, business, finance or entertainment. Messages cost the subscribers 25p each and are available on weekdays.

"Mobile phone users are increasingly relying on their handsets for up-to-the-minute news and information when they are on the move," said Tim Faircliff, general manager of Reuters Digital Media UK.

"Reuters can deliver the news as it happens, wherever and whenever, direct to these consumers."
