Guardian announces major new comments project

The Guardian is rolling out a new comment and analysis blog following a major staff reshuffle.

A new content group will oversee the 'Comment is free' project, which will combine the newspaper's commentators along with high-profile bloggers, critics and writers. The project is being touted as a UK version of the Huffington Post, the US celebrity blog.

Readers will also be encouraged to comment and join debate; the site today called for ideas and suggestions for the project on its Organ Grinder blog.

Four senior editors will be working on the project including Georgina Henry, now assistant editor, and Guardian Unlimited editor-in-chief Emily Bell, who is now also an executive editor for 'Comment is free' and charged with overseeing convergence of the newspaper and website.
