NUJ conference 2006 to get multimedia blog coverage

In an effort to inspire interest in this year's National Union of Journalists (NUJ) conference, I have teamed up with freelance journalist Chris Wheal to co-ordinate a posse of students to blog the whole event.

The aim is to encourage more journalists to join the union, which now has a dedicated new media council that will play a crucial part in the future of the NUJ as the industry adapts to the 'new media age'.

There are around 15 student members working on the project and we would really appreciate it if you could read it, and join in by commenting on what our students report.

We have got a mix of print and broadcast journalists from various BA, MA and post-graduate courses and hope to offer a good mix of text, audio and video content.

ADM runs from tomorrow, Thursday 23 March, to Sunday 26 March. Check out the ADM 2006 Student blog at http://www.nujstudents.org.uk.

To declare an interest, I am chair of the union's new media industrial council and also chair of the Brighton branch, which I will be representing at the conference.
