Times Online makes editorial appointments

Times Online has made appointments in two editorial positions - communities editor and lifestyle editor.

Tom Whitwell, who currently works at Dr Foster, will take the new position of communities editor. Jennifer Howze, currently senior editor at iVillage.co.uk, has been appointed as lifestyle editor.

Anne Spackman, editor in chief of Times Online, said: "Tom and Jennifer both have vast experience in delivering high-quality, essential information to niche audiences, audiences who are passionate about their particular subject and who know what they do and don't want to read."

Mr Whitwell's previous roles include deputy editor at the Face, editor of Mixmag and news editor for Ministry magazine. He is also the founder of musicthing.co.uk, a blog for musicians.

Prior to her role with iVillage.co.uk, Ms Howze lived in New York where she worked at TheStreet.com and Allure magazine. She has also written for the Wall Street Journal Europe and various Condé Nast publications.
