Times launches voice-to-text blogging service
The voice-to-screen technology is aimed at travel bloggers and translates voice messages into text before they are moderated and published online.
Provided by SpinVox, it is hoped that the service will make it easier for users to contribute to the blogging site Your World by removing the barrier of posting online, which may not be possible for some Times and Sunday Times readers.
Christina Domecy, co-founder and CEO of SpinVox, said the partnership with Times Media - the first national newspaper group to employ SpinVox - would allow for 'more timely and relevant' content on its blogs.
"The voice post is evocative of a golden age of foreign journalism when correspondents filed their stories by telephone from the far reaches of the globe," said Zach Leonard, digital media publisher at Times Media.
"The development also reinforces our commitment to user generated content and we hope it will make users feel even more closely connected to Times Media's print and digital brands."
Calls to the service, which can be reached on +44 (0)151 266576, are charged at national rates from a fixed landline and are limited to a maximum of two minutes.
