Guardian appoints two technology directors for 24/7 news push
Guardian News & Media (GNM) has appointed two senior technology directors to oversee its transformation into a '24/7 digital media business'.
The media group has appointed Andy Beale, currently deputy IT director for GNM, as technology director for architecture and services, with special responsibility for operations and systems across GNM.
Mike Bracken, a director at IT company Wavex Technology, will join him, at the end of January, as technology director for development with responsibility for software and product development, web services and applications, and developing relationships with key partners.
The new appointees will be responsible for devising and implementing technology strategy ahead of GNM planned move into its new 'state-of-the-art' London headquarters next year.
Both roles will report to GNM chief operating officer Derek Gannon, and will lead a new expanded technology department incorporating all of GNM's existing technology resources.
"Technology is critical to GNM's editorial and commercial future," said Derek Gannon.
"In Andy and Mike we have two of the most respected experts in their fields, who will ensure GNM continues to lead the industry in ambition and innovation."
