Students sit first NCTJ online journalism exams

Journalism students in Poole, Dorset, will this week become the first in the UK to sit a new exam in online journalism set by the National Council for the Training Journalists.

The fast-track course students are sitting the revamped NCTJ pre-entry examinations with training organisation Up To Speed.

The training centre is one of ten NCTJ-accredited courses running an online journalism element as part of its pre-entry qualification this academic year.

From next year, the online module will become a mandatory requirement of the newspaper reporters NCTJ qualification.

The new qualification requires students to show they can adapt a traditional print story for the web and also compile a video news feature.
