Guardian hiring editor ahead of major revamp of environment website

Guardian News and Media is looking to hire a website editor as part of its plan to radically overhaul its environmental news website.

The news group posted ads this weekend calling for submissions from those interested in the new post.

"We are planning substantially to develop our website with the aim of becoming the leading source of environmental news, comment and advice on the internet," stated the advert for the new role.

The ad also suggests that the new green site will be one of the next areas of the Guardian website to undergo conversion into a Web 2.0 friendly area with greater community features and ability for users to submit content:

"He or she will have strong ideas about how to build a community around the Guardian's environment site and how to encourage users to generate content, as well as some experience with multimedia content."
