Aussie journalist goes on the rampage at awards dinner

Taking more than a leaf from the 'How to behave at the Press Gazette awards' book, Aussie journalist Glenn Milne, a columnist for The Sunday Telegraph, rushed the stage at the Walkley Awards to unleash a volley of abuse at a fellow journalist and push him to the ground.

Crikey founder Stephen Mayne had just finished awarding the best business news report to the Australian Financial Review's Morgan Mellish when Mr Milne ran up and pushed him from the stage.

Mr Milne was then dragged, kicking and screaming, from the mêlée by the floor manager as rapturous applause burst out among the audience.

The Sydney Morning Herald later reported him lamenting the "shocking consequences" of mixing alcohol and migraine medication.

Just like old times in the UK . . .
