MSN UK unveils new Tech news destination

MSN UK has decommissioned its computing and tech channel and relaunched as MSN Tech & Gadgets.

The tech site will combine in-house content with news and reviews supplied through a new partnership with CNet.

The revamped news destination follows several other recent MSN UK changes. Movies, travel and health and wellbeing have all been relaunched in recent weeks.

"We're not pausing for breath. At the moment it's virtually every day another launch," Peter Bale, executive producer Microsoft's UK online services group, told Journalism.co.uk.

"Hopefully it will become a really serious destination for technology people. But not only for geeks, it's got to have broad appeal.

"From the Iphone to Vista, technology affects everyone's lives. We want to do things that help explain, educate, help and excite people... It's not just reading material for specialists, it's guidance for real people."

Mr Bale added that, in the coming months, the destination will look at developing new elements around user-generated content.
