'Baldy Blogger' hands bone marrow petition to parliament
Adrian Sudbury, a digital journalist with the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, is to submit his petition on bone marrow donation to parliament today.Sudbury, who has blogged about his own battle against two forms of Leukemia on Baldy's Blog, will give the list of signatures to Ed Balls, secretary of state for children, schools and families.
The petition, which currently has 10,751 signatories, asks the UK government to change education policy and make it a requirement for schools, colleges and other institutions to educate their students about bone marrow donation
In true blogging form Baldy's Blog will feature live updates throughout the day and meeting with the minister.
"So rather than just write about it I thought we could post live hourly updates throughout the day and try and stick some pictures in as we go along too. Might be a bit rough round the edges but this is probably going to be the last big outing I make so why not make the most of it?" he posted on his blog last night.
Sudbury was recently named multimedia journalist of the year at the Press Gazette's regional press awards.
