Telegraph.co.uk to launch online TV service

TelegraphThe Telegraph is launching its new TV service with what it claim is Britain's first lunchtime online business briefing.

Telegraph TV will go live on March 5 with the Business Show, presented by city editor Damian Reece and Sunday Telegraph city editor Dan Roberts, as the first programme.

The show, which will run for between four and five minutes Monday to Friday, will focus on Britain's economy, companies and markets, and will provide analysis on all the day's business news.

The Telegraph, which will jointly produce the show with ITN, has lined up British Airways to act as the programme sponsor throughout April.

The Telegraph is the latest in a long line of national papers to add a TV service to its online offering. Last month the Mirror relaunched with a video heavy focus - but both come some time after the Times and the Sun which launched TV services last summer.

Shaun Gregory, Telegraph's development director, said the business-focused show would be the 'flagship programme' of a range of TV offerings - which are expected to come at a later date.

He said: "Our strategy is now evolving at some pace and the Business Show is yet another example of delivering content to consumers in the way they wish to consume it. What's more important is the fact that we are bringing the advertising community with us. It's across all platforms and fully integrated."
