Birmingham Post to relaunch as business-focused compact

Image of birmingham post website The Birmingham Post is to relaunch its print edition and further develop its website, its publisher has said.

The newspaper will become a weekday, business-focused title in a tabloid format in the autumn, a release from Trinity Mirror said.

To accompany the print redesign a new mobile website will be launched for the paper – one of 14 mobile websites under development by Trinity.

Further changes will also be made to the title's website following its relaunch in February.

The move is part of a series of changes to Trinity Mirror's regional titles in the Midlands, which include the introduction of centralised multimedia and production desks.

In addition Marc Reeves, editor of the Birmingham Post, will now take control of Trinity's online development in the region.

"I am delighted to announce these exciting developments to the Birmingham Post. The combination of our new format and increased use of cutting-edge technology mean that we will continue to give our readership the information they want in the format they want it," said Reeves, who will remain editor of the Post.

“Moving to a new format gives us the opportunity for the print version of the Post to follow the website in attracting a new generation of younger – but no less serious – business readers."
