PA makes senior appointments in multimedia expansion
The Press Association (PA) has made a raft of senior appointments to drive forward the integration of its multimedia operations and extension of its digital services.Former editor-in-chief Tony Watson (pictured) will become managing director of the PA and will focus on new business opportunities for the agency in digital, a press release said.
Watson previously edited the Yorkshire Post before joining the PA in 2003.
Jonathan Grun, who first joined the agency in 1979 as a reporter, will keep the title of editor of the PA, but will take overall responsibility for 'safeguarding the quality, values and reputation of the wire service'.
John Angeli, who was previously multimedia editor, has been appointed to the newly created role of head of content and will be responsible for overseeing the integration of the PA's text, photo, video and graphic services.
Promotions also come for Teilo Colley, who becomes the new editor of the PA's Newswire; Emily Shelley, appointed to the new post of entertainment editor; and Jim Grice, who is named as the new video editor.
"Their [the new team's] key objective is to continue our progress in the digital arena, ensuring that our content and technology solutions are market-leading. Under Tony’s leadership, I am confident that the team will meet the challenges of the multimedia landscape and continue to provide innovative services to our widening customer base," said Paul Potts, executive chairman of PA Group.
