Reuters names Chris Cramer new global editor of multimedia

Reuters has appointed Chris Cramer as global editor of multimedia for its news operations.

Cramer, who previously headed broadcast teams at BBC and CNN, will manage editorial operations for Reuters.com and oversee all multimedia activities.

Based in New York and reporting to editor-in-chief David Schlesinger, he will be tasked with introducing new multimedia projects across all Reuters News units and bureaux worldwide.

"Cramer's distinguished track record of driving innovations in news gathering will be key to building on our recognized multimedia ventures and century and a half of journalist excellence," Schlesinger said in a press statement.

The company has also been celebrating a multimedia feature prize at the 2008 ONA Conference, awarded on September 13 for their online documentary 'Bearing Witness', which featured testimonies of the Reuters journalists covering the Iraq war and used multimedia maps and timelines.
 
"Reuters News is committed to developing new ways of telling stories that matter to our clients," said Schlesinger.
