News prediction site Hubdub expands with Independent deal
The Independent has partnered with news prediction site
Hubdub .
A special section for the paper will feature on Hubdub's site , which allows users to bet virtual money on the outcome of news stories and current events.
The Independent will set current affairs questions for Hubdub users and a range of features for the section, including links to top news stories from the Independent and a Hubdub widget for the paper's site, are under development, according to a press release.
The deal follows Hubdub's agreement with Reuters last month to create a special Reuters section of the site.
Speaking to Journalism.co.uk at the time, Nigel Eccles, Hubdub founder and CEO, said such partnerships would be mutually beneficial.
"We will now open up the platform to other partners. There's no real
limit to the number of partners who we could put on the site," he said.
"We
want to build up our user base, and as that gets bigger they'll see
Reuters' questions, which sends traffic back to those news sites."
