Daylife teams up with Indian and Dubai titles for cricket coverage

Software engineering firm Daylife has signed an agreement with newspapers in India and Dubai to boost their coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for cricket.

The Times of India and Dubai's Khaleej Times will use Daylife to pull together their own content on the IPL with relevant multimedia from sister publications and elsewhere on the web.

The tool has allowed the websites to build in-depth topic pages and individual profile pages of key figures in the game, featuring timelines related content.

The technology has previously been used by the Washington Post to create a fully searchable database of its Beijing Olympics photos.

Sky News also uses Daylife to aggregate relevant content around stories.

"The Times of India and Khaleej Times are very clever, as they understand a service like Daylife is a cost-effective way to deeply cover short-term events, where the dedication of additional staff - be it editorial or engineering - may not be possible," Upendra Shardanand, Daylife CEO, told Journalism.co.uk.

By partnering with Daylife, the papers will be able to develop sections that automatically update in real-time with no extra staff costs, added Shardanand.
