William Reed Business Media acquires niche digital publisher

William Reed Business Media has bought the publisher of series of niche, online-news titles.

Decision News Media, which runs FoodNavigator.com, FoodNavigator-usa.com, has been acquired by the publisher, according to a statement on the FoodNavigator website.

Decision publishes 18 websites and a range of e-newsletters focusing on international food, nutrition, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry news.

The deal will expand William Reed's events, recruitment and data businesses, as well as helping the publisher break into new markets, the statement said.

"Decision News Media has created a powerful market opportunity as a leading online provider for independent and high-value news reporting in the market it serves. Both companies make an excellent combination. Together, the two businesses will be stronger and have greater potential. We will accelerate our growth and expand our brands into new media areas," Jean-Marc Cocogne, co-founder of Decision News Media, on the site.

Last year William Reed, which also publishes The Grocer, acquired food and drink industry title Harpers.
