Channel 4 News multimedia editor steps down

Jon Bernstein, multimedia editor at Channel 4 News, will leave his role with ITN to pursue freelance opportunities.

Bernstein, who ran Channel 4 News' FactCheck during the 2005 election, led the programme's multimedia expansion, and set up its first blogs, podcasts and Twitter feed.

He joined ITN in February 2005 after two years as editor-in-chief of Directgov, the UK's Cabinet office website.

He also launched the UK, German and French versions of Silicon.com in his five years with the site.

Bernstein began his career as an editorial assistant for VNU Business Publications. He later became staff writer, a reporter on PC Week and then news editor on Network News.

In September 2007, Journalism.co.uk interviewed Bernstein about Channel 4 News' multimedia push and distributing video news online.
