HuffPo targets international readers with new ad deal

The Huffington Post has added to its expansion plans by signing an agreement to target non-US readers with advertising.

The site will use AdGent 007 to sell ad inventory aimed at international traffic, a press release said.

AdGent 007's services are also used by the Guardian, Independent and Johnston Press to monetise online audiences from outside the UK.

According to recent figures from Nielsen Online, as reported by Editor&Publisher, traffic to the Huffington Post rose to 6.7 million unique users for May.

"As one of the top online destinations for news and commentary, we attract millions of consumers from all over the world. Our partnership with AdGent 007 allows us to tap into a valuable and often overlooked international audience," said James Smith, chief revenue officer of The Huffington Post, in the release.

Earlier this week it launched a new local site for New York, following the addition of a Chicago news site.

Founder Ariana Huffington also confirmed plans for a Denver site.
