Journalist superstars give tutorials on YouTube

Leading journalists, including Bob Woodward of Watergate fame, have contributed to the launch of YouTube's new Reporters' Center with 'how to' videos explaining the secrets of good reporting,

The channel features advice on how to conduct a good interview from CBS News anchor Katie Couric; tips on how to report from a crisis area without getting shot from New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof; and a video by Arianna Huffington explaining the importance of citizen reporters.   

Other videos cover practical subjects such as how to fact check stories, avoid breaking the law while reporting and adhering to journalistic principles.

The official YouTube blog said the new resource is for the benefit of what it called 'the enormous community of citizen reporters on YouTube'.

"This isn't meant to be a one-way conversation. For the first time on YouTube, these reporters are making themselves available to engage with you directly," said a post on the blog.

The Reporters' Center is the latest in a series of resources launched to facilitate reporting on YouTube, following the citizen news channel and the reporter's channel.

Last year the video-sharing site ran a journalism competition in partnership with the Pulitzer Center.
