Africa to examine its online role

New media and the information society will form the central theme of a conference to be held in South Africa this September.

The Highway Africa conference, to be held in Grahamstown from 8-10 September, will aim to bring the continent's journalists into the centre of the global information highway debate.

There will be training workshops for journalists, speakers and discussions centering on technological and political issues related to new media in Africa, and a presentation of awards for innovation in the field.
