BBC complaints go live

The BBC is revamping its complaints procedure with a new dedicated web area and code of practice.

bbc.co.uk/complaints will publish details of complaints and any action taken, as well as corrections. The new code of practice will also be published on the site.

"The reforms announced today are part of a programme of change to improve the BBC's accountability to licence payers," said BBC chairman Michael Grade.

"The changes mean greater objectivity, fairness and transparency when the BBC receives a complaint."

I registered with BBC yesterday to comment about the tenis final re Australian open. I posted the following comment- "Tragically it is so obvious that Serb haters like Croats and Albanians maquerade as genuine BBC members and give Djokovic a pasting - their comemnts are quite often inane. As for BBC reporting, as usual it tends to be biased because they do it every day against the Russians and the Serbs. It is sad - politics, does get in the way of sport - even in the UK!" Other BBC member continued to insult each other all night and nothing happensed - the section on BBC is called "606" on sport. I was then banned! the following message was sent to me - --------- "Thank you for contributing to a BBC community site. Unfortunately we've had to remove your content below because it contravened one of our House Rules. Postings to BBC messageboards will be removed if they: * Are considered likely to provoke, attack or offend others * Are racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable * Contain swear words (including abbreviations or alternative spellings) or other language likely to offend Content considered to have been posted with an intention to disrupt the message boards will be removed. This includes 'team taunts' and other content designed to upset and annoy supporters of rival teams. Please do not reply to this email because your response will not be read." IS THIS THE GREAT BBC THEN CLAIMS TO BE FAIR BALANCED ETC ETC ?? I would appreciate your response. regards, Alexander Ardalich

The BBC has not and is not being as transparent as it could be with regard to letting the public know which complaints it chooses to address and the ones that it chooses to ignore. The above example may very well be one of many. This is where the freedom of speech offered by the internet can step in and since the Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand 'Sachsgate' controversy I’ve noticed a few forums spring up debating this and other BBC complaints. If the BBC wont do it others are… http://www.bbcno.co.uk
