Grand Espirt from Grand Marnier Creates a Classic
London, May 7, 2008 - Grand Marnier® is launching a new summer cocktail called the Grand Esprit which captures the essence of summer days and sophisticated garden parties.A fragrant and refreshing cocktail of Grand Marnier, elderflower cordial and soda water, the Grand Esprit marries the charm of French cognac and orange flavours with the floral aromas of English hedgerows and the tingle of sparkling soda. A garnish of sliced orange and a strawberry add the crowning touch.
The Grand Esprit promises to become a classic summer drink for entertaining at home, for glamorous picnics, midsummer balls, or to add a personal treat for guests at lunch in the garden or at a summer barbecue.
More than 100,000 people will get a chance to taste the Grand Esprit during a series of sampling events during the summer, such as the BBC Good Food Summer Festival at NEC, Birmingham (June 11-15) and the Taste of London (June 21-24).
The Grand Esprit recipe was developed by Grand Marnier and Jamie MacDonald, one of the UK’s top mixologists, who sought to “catch the essence of summer in a glass with a well-balanced combination of refreshing flavours which anyone could make”.
Jamie’s Grand Esprit recipe is: 25ml Grand Marnier:
25ml elderflower cordial
poured over ice in a tumbler
topped up with soda water
garnished with a slice of orange and a strawberry
For volumes served from a pitcher increase the ingredients four times.
Ben Pick, Grand Marnier promotions manager, said: “I believe we have created a summer cocktail which is destined to become a new classic. Grand Esprit combines an authentically French spirit with the quintessential scent of elderflower in summer. There is nothing to match this glorious and refreshing combination”.
Grand Marnier is available nationwide from supermarkets and off-licences priced around £15 for a 50cl bottle and around £20 for a 70c bottle.
Grand Esprit Cocktail sets: media sampling sets of Grand Marnier, elderflower, cocktail pitcher, stirrer and soda water will be available shortly.
