Dundee Duo Take Top Honours in PCA Awards
Two men working for a Dundee building preservation company have been honoured at a top industry event.
The work of Steve Ferrier and John Shaw, was recognised by the Property Care Association (PCA) at its annual conference, held at Wembley Stadium.
Both men work at Intona, located in Fairfield Street, where Steve is a joiner and John a technician.
They have recently been studying for exams with the PCA, and jointly secured the student of the year in the Association’s specialised technician awards.
Steve and John flew down to London to receive their awards at Wembley from the PCA - a trade body that represents Scotland’s expert contractors, manufacturers and surveyors who specialise in damp-proofing, wood preservation, structural waterproofing and structural maintenance.
Yasmin Chopin, executive director of the PCA, which incorporates the British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association, said: “It was great to see the student of the year award won jointly by two men from the same company and it reflects the high standards they both bring, not only to their organisation, but the building preservation industry in general.”
Intona was formed in 1994 and has grown steadily within the Tayside area. More recently it has also moved into construction and renovation.

Notes To Editors
The PCA is a member of TrustMark the scheme supported by the Government, to help property owners find reliable and trustworthy tradespeople to make home improvements.
Its list of contractor members located across Scotland are all carefully vetted before being awarded membership - and are then subject to rigorous auditing procedures once admitted to the Association.
As well as delivering a trusted repair procedure, PCA members are able to carry out specialist surveys as part of the house-buying procedure to identify potential problems – as well as a range of other services designed to preserve and protect homes and buildings across the UK.
