Freestyle Records Announce The Release of ‘How Am I’, The Debut Single from The Impellers

Freestyle Records have proudly announced the release of debut single ‘How Am I’ from The Impellers, one of the UK’s hottest up & coming acts - both live and in the studio . The single is the first release from The Impellers’ forthcoming debut album ‘Robot Legs’.

The Impellers’ star is rising, with national radio airplay and feedback from such credible sources as Mark Lamarr (UK BBC Radio 2), Craig Charles (UK BBC 6Music) and Solar FM (UK digital soul music channel), plus key exposure for ‘How am I?’ on stations across Europe and even Australia.

Recent live appearances have included headline performances at esteemed Paris venue La Fleche D’or and Birmingham’s The Yardbird, as well as supporting legendary DJs Hexstatic (Ninja Tune) and The Next Men at Camden’s premier dance venue, Koko.

The Impellers’ have also been lined up for a live session on Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul show on BBC 6 Music in August and will be on the Speedometer bill at London’s 100 Club on August 8th 2009. They will also be featuring on the same bill as Grand Master Flash, The Zutons, Grace Jones and The New Mastersounds at this year’s ‘Beachdown’ festival on August Bank Holiday.

The Impellers are a Brighton based, ten-piece heavy funk outfit that has been tearing up venues across the UK with their bitingly crisp up-tempo funk and soul. ‘How am I’ showcases The Impellers’ engagingly unique fusion of deep funk, super- heavy soul and kicking afro breaks.

The band’s music is bursting with raw energy and magnetism and is led by acclaimed vocalist Lady Clair Witcher - complimented by a heavy five-piece horn section, screaming Hammond organ riffs and a pounding guitar & rhythm section that combines to deliver audiences a truly exhilarating live show.

The debut release also includes instrumental block-buster ‘Upstairs at Harry’s’, a track that further demonstrates the sound that has captured audiences’ rapture over the last twelve months.
