Freelance writer Claire Furnell has been appointed as the new features writer for Autocar & F1 Racing Middle East magazine, recruited via journalism.co.uk.
Ms Furnell, who will be moving to Dubai to take up the position, will bring a local slant to a magazine which is currently largely written in the UK.
She has worked as a freelancer for eight years, including stints at Granada TV and Channel One. She also produced her own 'Quick Chicks' show for Granada Men & Motors.
Before moving into journalism, she trained as an actress at the Arts Educational School in Tring. She was encouraged to edit the school magazine and moved onto a career in TV and motoring.
Ms Furnell told journalism.co.uk that the biggest challenge would be "leaving my family, working in constant sunshine (I am a red head!) and working to revamp a magazine on a day-to-day basis".
She said her biggest achievement has been "appearing in the Guinness book of records as part of a team that drove a Honda Insight to the record-breaking consumption of 113 mpg".
The successful candidate will join a group of Web editors who choose the best breaking news and analysis stories from across Dow Jones and present them in summary form for busy traders and financial advisors.
