The highlights of his career so far, he said, "included covering 9/11 from New York for the Five Live Breakfast programme - which won a Sony gold award - and output editing the launch of America's invasion of the Iraq for the Today programme".
"More recently my programme was on air when the bombs hit London on 7 July this year and the Victoria [Derbyshire programme] did phone-ins with all the party leaders before the general election."
Mr Husaini's interest in broadcast journalism began during work experience at local radio stations and newspapers, and he later moved to the BBC World service as a trainee.
He studied history and philosophy of science at Cambridge University and his advice to journalists is to "remember that no-one achieves anything on their own".
"Working well with the people around you is the key to success."
