Antonia Stemp becomes deputy editor on Outdoor Photography magazine
Prior to her role at Journalism.co.uk Stemp started out in childcare before deciding to go to university as a mature student where she studied English and film.
Her advice to those looking to make the leap is: "Don't loosen your grip on your ambitions; the more faith you have in yourself and your vision, the more transferable your passion and skills are.
"You can whimper and fret all you want into your pillow at night, about rubbish jobs and lack of opportunity, but by day just chip away and try again and again, and then some more, making contacts and putting yourself out there."
