John Owen and Jonathan Myerson join City University's journalism department

City University has appointed two new staff to its journalism department.

John Owen, former head of TV news for CBC, has been named professor of international journalism.

Owen is currently working on a special training project with Al-Jazeera, a press release from the university said. He was also involved in setting up the BBC's journalism training college.

Joining Owen is Jonathan Myerson, who has been appointed director of City's MA in creative writing (novels).

Myerson has replaced previous director Harriet Gilbert, who will continue as a visiting lecturer while presenting arts programmes on the BBC World Service.
