CondéNet UK has recruited Jessica Bumpus (picture courtesy of Michael Gray/Vogue.com) as fashion features editor for Vogue.com UK.
Bumpus, formerly a production assistant at CondéNet UK, will now write daily news stories, interview designers, edit Vogue.com Loves page, as well as cover a variety of events and shows, she told Journalism.co.uk.
"As we're daily, we're always working to deadlines – it's an exciting challenge and keeps me on my toes and also means we are the essential point of call for all the latest fashion news," said Bumpus, outlining the challenges facing her.
Bumpus graduated from the University of The Arts London, London College of Fashion after completing her fashion promotion degree, where she specialised in journalism.
She has worked on various fashion titles for her current publisher, including Condé Nast Brides' fashion and online department, and later freelanced on Stylefinder.com before joining Vogue.com.
Her advice to those starting out is to gain as much work experience as possible.
"I went to the fashion departments of various magazines while at university which gave me a great insight into the way everything works, and then also to my local paper, where I got the opportunity to write features as well as shorter news pieces. Be prepared to work hard and be flexible," said Bumpus.
