Dan Wootton is appointed showbiz editor for News of the World

Dan Wootton, former TV editor for the News of the World, has been appointed to showbiz editor.

Wootton, who launched his celebrity column last Sunday, is claimed by the title to be the 'youngest showbiz columnist on a national UK newspaper.'

His experience in the celebrity field includes an interview with Jade Goody about her battle with cancer and exclusives with Kate Moss and Pete Doherty.

A native New Zealander, Wootton has worked for titles including The Dominion Post, where he wrote a daily entertainment column and was a reporter for TV show Good Morning before joining the News of the World in 2007.
