Jennifer Donald has been appointed show jumping editor of Horse and Hound.
Donald has worked on the horse enthusiasts' title for over three years, originally as editorial assistant before becoming products editor, alongside a few other editorial positions, she told Journalism.co.uk.
She will now sub-edit and co-ordinate the title's weekly show jumping reports from around the country, as well as retaining her previous role, writing about the latest riding equipment and products.
Donald started her career with the BBC, firstly in the Commercial Rights department before joining BBC Sport, where she worked as a programme assistant for several years.
She later decided to pursue a writing career and applied for a BBC Sport internal attachment, which led to a placement on the BBC Sport website for three months.
"Don't follow my route - I was just extremely lucky, but get loads of writing experience - just enjoying the sport or loving horses is not enough," Donald told Journalism.co.uk.
"It is quite a specialised role, but don't burn your bridges too early on - I think it helps to have experience of writing on all sorts of subjects."
