Full details: The Morning Advertiser, the leading pub and drinks title, seeks bright web reporter to bring in scoops galore.
You’ll be writing on subjects that make national headlines all the time – the plight of the pub, alcohol regulation, community and social debates as well as fascinating issues facing small and big businesses, and you’ll be meeting some of the biggest personalities in Britain today. We have a lively website with a huge online community as well as a weekly magazine. You’ll be contributing to both, as well as writing features and diary items and learning how to run a busy website.
You will be expected to be a fast learner, a great self starter and someone as happy writing a page lead news story, as you are an industry report, business feature or review. Intelligence and news sense are key attributes for the role.
Duties include:
· Write news on a day-to-day basis for an online audience
· Contribute editorially to other sections of the magazine — news, Pub Chef, features
· Attend press events
· Meet licensees for interviews
· Establish key contacts
· Phone licensees for their views
· Manage and interact with our online community
· Generate ideas for news and feature articles
· Uploading stories to the website
· Sending out daily newsletters
· Liaising with advertisers over requirements
· Helping form strategy for increasing visits and usability
Experience/ qualities
· Qualification in journalism
· Knowledge of social media — Twitter, Facebook and YouTube — preferable
· Interest in online media
· Interest in pubs preferable
