Hi All,
my mother is quite worried because her company is about to select a new digital news production system among Sony, Avid and Thomson systems. I wonder if the above mentioned systems are user friendly for aged journalists (with little computer literacy) as she is...any thoughts?

I don't have personal experience of any of these systems, but there is a pretty good chance that they are not that user-friendly for any level of computer literacy. However, she should get training from her employers and that training should take into account the varying abilities of individuals. I don't think your mother need worry - I have seen people of all ages and experience adapt to new technology systems successfully. Tell her not to worry, to do it in her own time and to not imagine she is in any way deficient if she takes longer than others to learn the ropes. At the end of the day, it's the system designers who are to blame if their products are problematic for their users.
