Poll
Question: Was the Guardian right to shut down Max Gogarty's blog?
Yes - no opinion
No - no opinion
It shouldn't have been there in the first place
Yes - the abuse it received was over-the-top and unwarranted
No - it should have been allowed to carry on. Doesn't the paper really want to know what its readers think of its blogs?

Last week Max Gogarty's first blog post for a new Guardian travel section blog about his gap year travel received - rightly or wrongly - some staunch criticism from the paper's readers - read our blog review of what happened http://www.journalism.co.uk/shorturl/VZAQI/ and Max's original post http://www.journalism.co.uk/shorturl/WEIIM/

Was the blog an editorial oversight or does responsibility for the backlash lie with the writer? Did the Guardian react correctly by calling the whole thing off?

Some of those comments were pure gold. Someone sign up 'Finneyonthewing' now.

The anger should have been directed exclusively at the ed rather than Max. Seriously, what was he thinking?...

I couldn't give my opinion right now, the comments left afterwards had quite a hypnotic effect.
