Can anyone recommend a transcription service they've used that is fast and not too expensive? I have digital files that I would need to upload/send via You Send It.

Incidentally I have occasionally recorded interviews on my iphone with software called Callrec.me. It's an incredible faff to get the interview recording - you have to put your interviewee on hold while you log in to a site, etc. However, for a ridiculously cheap fee - like £10 if I remember rightly - I could also get my interview transcribed, and I think I even got it the same day. It was full of errors - mainly because my interviewee was from Luxembourg and had a thick accent, and I suspect the transcriber lived somewhere in India and had no idea what the person was talking about, but it nonetheless pretty helpful.

Any thoughts/recommendations would be much appreciated. Am on hellish deadline clash.

Hi Isabel,

I run a transcription service based in London that has turnaround times starting from just four hours.  I only use accurate, experienced and reliable typists and our pricing is competitive.  I can also offer you a free five to ten minute sample of our work, if you would like to check the quality.
With regards to uploading your audio files, we have our own upload page on our website.  We also offer direct uploads via iPhone, iPad or iPod, using the Dictamus app (available on iTunes) for regular clients.

I hope this helps.

Flat rate charge 50p per minute. No proofing but generally quite good. Only problem is limited to 10 mins per audio - but you can divide your audio and submit several chunks.

They even started to create mobile app for audio transcriptions. Very interesting project. ;)

http://proofreading.org offer transcription services I believe. I have only used them for proofreading but they've always been very reliable.
