Just started journalism, hints or tips to help improve would be much appreciated

Hello I'm Scott

I'm new to the forum and journalism,I'm currently a quarter of a way through a freelancing journalism course. Would like any hints or tips to help improve, etc. E.g how do i broaden my contacts. I'm always willing to learn. I have just started a blog offline, could anyone recommend a good website in which to broadcast my blog?.

I'm in the same position I have an offline blog but i'm unsure on what to include. I currently have a page on http://www.journoportfolio.com which allows me to show all my current work which may be useful to you? You could broadcast your blog here, as well as uploading individual articles.

Hello Scott.

I run a car and product review website and have done a bit of freelance work over the years. Regarding contacts, I'd say social networking sites can be massively important.
Build professional Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ accounts, and find the people you need that way.
Often, it is good to check who the people you 'follow' are following, or who follow them or 'like' their page etc. This can be incredibly helpful in finding a variety of new contacts, and a great way to introduce yourself too.
