Hello
A long time ago, in a former life I undertook my school work experience placement with the Express and Echo in Exeter. I loved it and managed to get myself another two week placement the following year.
I got on a course at Middlesex University for an HND Journalism course which I turned down eventually as I didn't want to leave my girlfriend and move away. To say I regret it is an understatement.
I got a job in a pub with the intention of studying eventually. I secured work experience at the Melody Maker and the NME. That was as far as it went.
Fast forward to 2013 and I've realised that I want (and need) to do something I enjoy. The journalism got forgotten about as life took over. I'm a facilities worker with no job satisfaction whatsoever in London.
I after whatever advice any of you may have for me. I've looked briefly at some editing and copywriting courses and intend to start blogging (i'm trying to build a couple of websites right now).
I'm going to try and dig out the interviews I did with a few bands back in late 90s/early 2000s so I at least have a little portfolio to start. I used to blag interviews with bands quite easily back in the day, I wonder if it's changed these days?
*apologies for posting this in the wrong place initially!
