Mr Freeman, currently deputy advertising director, will report to commercial director Stuart Taylor and will be responsible for driving business development and revenue streams across recruitment, sponsorship and advertising on all print and digital platforms.
Tim Brooks, managing director of GNM, said: "Adam has played a key role in GNM's digital business development - as recognised recently when he and his team won sales team of the year at the AOP awards - and his experience will add significant commercial strength to the board.
"This will also allow Stuart to focus on working more closely with me on our wider commercial strategy as our business continues to transform."
