Andrew Woods, former associate editor of male lifestyle magazine Loaded, has been promoted to deputy editor.

Mr Woods' promotion follows the departure of former deputy editor Ben Rayworth, who has moved to the south of France.

His new role includes deputising for the editor in his absence as well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the magazine, which is published by IPC Media.

His main challenge is learning to delegate and build an understanding of the various departments, as well as the features desk.

His advice to would-be editors is to: "Get organised and zone in on the weaker elements of your game - no one's an expert on everything." He also recommends people management courses.

Mr Woods previously worked as a reviews editor at FHM before working on the special projects department at the Mirror Group. He later joined News International where he worked until 2000.

He joined Loaded in 2001 as a freelance writer, before becoming features editor and, most recently, Loaded's associated editor.

Mr Woods studied for a BA journalism degree at London College of Printing and then freelanced at magazines including Select and More!.
