Poole originally joined gtnews.com as a commissioning editor and now steps up from his current post as section editor. Prior to this, he worked for Surrey-based publishers, Palladian Publications.
He will now manage the editorial content for the site, as well as the quarterly journal, Global Treasury Briefing; manage the reporters and contributors; represent the company at industry events; and will soon be managing a team of three editors, he told Journalism.co.uk.
Poole's words of wisdom for would-be editors is this: "I couldn't function without a large 'to do' list - there's so much going on in terms of content across the work we do at gtnews that it would be very easy to forget things or let the work build up. Every new action point goes on the list, and I review this two or three times a day. There's something very satisfying about ticking off each task!
"You also need to be very flexible in terms of prioritising workload, as another department or the CEO can come up with an action point that requires editorial input, with little or no notice."
