Breakingviews.com, the financial news site, has appointed John Foley as Greater China correspondent.

In his new position, Foley will write opinion pieces, covering a range of topics including investment banking and consumer spending.

Previously Foley was consumer goods correspondent and a member of the 'financial crisis' team at BreakingViews.com.

Foley's aim is to fill gaps in current financial reporting from east Asia, he told Journalism.co.uk. By keeping 'an open mind' he hopes to address the negative stereotypes held against the Asian economy, he added.
