Tryhorn trained as a journalist on the City University postgraduate course, going on to work as a trainee sub-editor at the Times.
He joined the Media Guardian website as its City correspondent in 2003, later becoming assistant news editor.
Tryhorn, now 31, told Journalism.co.uk that he does not have definite future plans, but would like to remain in journalism and is available for freelance work.
