Brian Groom has been named UK business and employment editor and associate editor.
Groom has stepped down from his previous role as comment and analysis editor, a position he held for four years.
In his new role he will be responsible for a nationwide team of reporters, as well as for increasing the FT's coverage 'in a rapidly changing business climate', the publisher stated in a release.
Former FT comment editor Caroline Daniel will move across to replace Groom and will take on increased managerial responsibilities, including overall coverage of all comment and analysis for the online and print editions.
Martin Sandbu has joined the FT as economics leader writer and relocates from New York to London, after completing his PhD in political economy and government at Harvard University.
