'Stuart Nicol joins PAStuart Nicol has left his position as picture editor for the Daily Record to become group picture editor for PA Group.

He will be responsible for the combined photo gathering and editing operations for the Press Association, EMPICS and celebrity photo specialist All Action Digital.

Mr Nicol will oversee the group's 39 photographers and the introduction of EMPIC's new real-time 'ShootLive' service which delivers images straight from camera less than 20 seconds after they are taken.

"As a client for many years I have always been impressed by the quality of PA's photography output and the willingness to embrace new technologies," said Mr Nicol.

"ShootLive is one of the most exciting developments in photography for many years."

Mr Nicol has previously worked for the Times, Sunday Times, Daily Mirror and the European. He started work at the Evening Standard just three days after his 20th birthday, making him one of Fleet Street's youngest photographers.
